Biography and Philosophy
Francesco Della Femina is an Italian architect and designer born in Capri and based in Naples, known for his poetic vision and distinctive design style. His work transforms emotions, places, and stories into spaces and objects with a strong identity, combining contemporary lines, refined materials, and a deeply Mediterranean sensibility with subtle Art Deco influences. Considered one of the finest architects and interior designers in Naples and its metropolitan area, as well as along the Amalfi Coast, the Sorrento Coast, and Capri, he develops projects in Italy and abroad through FDF Design, an architecture and design firm based in Naples. “My work stems from the interplay between the place, the people, and the stories that every space carries with it. The Italian and Mediterranean heritage translates into functional, comfortable and sophisticated environments, but also into collections of unique furnishings and objects, often made in collaboration with artisans and specialized companiesl and retail spaces, furniture and accessory design, events, and installations. “I feel a particularly strong connection to Mediterranean culture and to Capri, where I was born.” It is a sensitivity that I find in the way I work with light, materials, colors and proportions, but which I always interpret through a contemporary vision.” The Italian and Mediterranean heritage translates into functional, comfortable and sophisticated environments, but also into collections of unique furnishings and objects, often made in collaboration with artisans and specialized companies.
Skills
FDF Design develops architecture, interior design and design projects through a multidisciplinary and integrated approach, following the different stages of the process, from preliminary study to implementation. Skills include feasibility studies, concept design, surveys, architectural and interior design, cost estimates, technical and artistic direction of the work, as well as product and furniture design, landscape and garden design, lighting design, graphic design, events and installations. “I believe in the possibility of following a project in its entirety, from the first idea to its realization. For this reason, FDF Design draws on internal expertise and a network of professionals, companies, and artisans with whom I share a precise working method.” The firm operates in the residential, hospitality, and commercial sectors, developing private villas and homes, boutique hotels, restaurants, venues, showrooms, and retail spaces. The activity is concentrated in particular between Naples, Capri, the Amalfi Coast and the Sorrento Coast, as well as various international contexts.
Professional experiences
Throughout his career, Francesco Della Femina has gained professional experience in Italy and abroad, developing projects for an international clientele and collaborating with companies, agencies, and major architectural and design institutions. His activity is concentrated between Naples, Capri, the Amalfi Coast and the Sorrento Coast, territories that also represent an important reference in his research, but it extends to various international contexts, including France, Germany, Canada and Saint Barth. Through FDF Design, Francesco Della Femina has developed residential, hospitality, commercial, and design projects, engaging with diverse cultural and professional contexts. “Each context brings with it a different story. Working between Naples, Capri, the coast, and international realities has allowed me to engage with different cultures, needs, and ways of living, while always maintaining personal research.” The work carried out over the years has led the studio and Francesco Della Femina to be included among the reference realities of interior design in Naples, in the metropolitan area, on the Amalfi Coast, the Sorrento Coast and in Capri. “I consider each new assignment an opportunity to continue experimenting. Curiosity and research are an essential part of my way of designing and allow me to never stop at an already defined formula.”
