The Origins of Design
Francesco Della Femina’s journey into design began in 2013 with a candelabra affectionately named “Barbie,” created for his wife. That first piece marked the start of a language made of emotion, material, and form. Every object is envisioned as a visual and tactile narrative, then brought to life by a trusted network of skilled Neapolitan artisans. This close collaboration between design and craft produces unique pieces where elegance, affection, and manual expertise meet. Francesco personally oversees key stages of production, especially prototyping and refinement, ensuring each work reflects his vision and artisanal integrity
Material and the Hand
Francesco Della Femina’s work is born from a deep dialogue between design and craft. Materials like brass, iron, stone, ceramic, and wood are chosen for their living essence and hand-worked by a trusted network of Neapolitan artisans with whom he has long collaborated. Francesco actively participates in the workshop process—refining, correcting, experimenting. Each object results from a slow, collaborative journey marked by trust and mastery. Craftsmanship, for him, is not ornamentation but substance, bringing uniqueness, quality, and sensory richness to every creation.
The Visual Language
Francesco Della Femina’s visual language is built on restraint, harmony, and unexpected detail. His designs are shaped by a clear vision of beauty and realized through close collaboration with highly skilled artisans. Every element—proportion, texture, light—is refined through hands-on prototyping, with Francesco personally involved in each phase. This direct relationship between concept and craftsmanship results in objects that quietly tell stories, blending Mediterranean elegance with a contemporary sensibility. His design avoids excess, favors material honesty, and seeks a balanced presence within the space.
The International Scene
After debuting at Milan’s Fuorisalone, Francesco Della Femina’s creations have reached international stages like the Salone del Mobile, Maison & Objet in Paris, and ICFF in New York. At the heart of his work lies artisanal excellence, made possible by a network of expert Neapolitan craftsmen who bring his drawings to life. Francesco plays an active role in every phase—from concept to prototyping—and this authentic approach is recognized and valued worldwide. His design is deeply Italian in soul yet speaks fluently across cultures, resonating in galleries, exhibitions, and curated interiors around the globe.
Recognition
Francesco Della Femina was among the first designers selected by Artemest, the platform dedicated to fine Italian craftsmanship. His pieces—created in close partnership with Neapolitan artisans—are chosen by architects and interior designers for luxury homes and global design projects. The “Skyline Candle Holder,” formerly “Aztec Candelabra,” is now part of Eichholtz’s permanent collection. Each creation is born in the workshop, with Francesco personally involved in key stages of development. His work merges vision and material, form and gesture, tradition and modernity—an authentic Italian voice now recognized on the international stage.
