Francesco Della Femina reimagines the iconic Neapolitan venue La Mela, blending its legendary spirit with a contemporary vision. His design turns a complex underground layout into a refined, immersive space with strong identity. This revival celebrates Naples’ nightlife with elegance, steering clear of clichés. From the Dolce Vita years to a sophisticated present, every detail and custom furniture, lighting, spatial flow restores La Mela’s role as a cultural and social landmark.
Concept & Seduction: The Architecture of Desire
Francesco Della Femina’s concept turns La Mela into a symbolic journey through seduction, inspired by the original forbidden fruit. Each room represents a phase: attraction, temptation, indulgence. The entrance, dramatic and curated, immerses guests in a sensorial experience where nothing is accidental. Panther-print walls, a cascading chandelier, and a golden apple guide the way into a world designed to spark wonder and emotion.
Tailored Design: Every Detail Bears the Author’s Signature
Every single element of this project was designed by Francesco Della Femina: from the bar to the seating, lighting, wallpaper, even functional volumes like the DJ booth and sculptural golden palms. Structural challenges are transformed into poetic solutions, turning architectural constraints into scenographic assets. Materials converse with light, and design becomes storytelling. La Mela stands as a manifesto of bespoke craftsmanship and narrative interior design.
Thematic Spaces: A Three-Act Journey
Francesco designs La Mela as a journey in three acts. The bar—reminiscent of a Gothic cathedral—is the first stage of visual and gustatory delight. The second room bursts with bold red tones and zebra patterns, centered around the custom-designed “Bunny” chair and golden palm sculptures concealing structural pillars. Finally, a hidden VIP lounge: a hand-painted Garden of Eden. Each room has its own soul, yet they all speak the same language: emotional design
A New Neapolitan Night by Della Femina
The project of La Mela was conceived to reinvent the Neapolitan nights out. Not a traditional nightclub, but a space where architecture, entertainment, and hospitality merge into a complete experience. The ambiance recalls a sophisticated, cosmopolitan Naples that once enchanted international stars. Today, thanks to this signature design, La Mela reclaims its role as a symbol of elegance and innovation. A place where the magic of seduction is celebrated every night.
